Man Utd boss Ferguson slates Liverpool academy management
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson can see Liverpool failing to meet UEFA's new quotas rule for Champions League clubs.
The United boss is supportive of UEFA’s bid to implement a system which forces clubs to include at least five home-grown players in their squads.
He said: “Even Arsenal are starting to bring one or two young English players through.
“But then you look at Liverpool. I am told that 70 players played for their reserve team last season and that over 30 of them were Spanish. That’s an amazing number.
“They will definitely struggle to meet UEFA’s requirements with that kind of Spanish influence.”

This ignorant twat spouts lies & bullshit and has no respect for Liverpool FC at all - that's why, despite all his personal success in football, he'll never be able to stand alongside the true greats like Bill Shankly, Bob Paisley, Matt Busby or Jock Stein - all gentlemen, unlike him. In point of fact, if he'd bothered to check, in season 2008/09 LFC reserves used 35 players, of whom only 4 were Spanish ! Of the 22 players listed in the Youth Squad for this year, 12 are Liverpool and district born, 7 others are English/Scots, 1 Irish and just 2 foreign born ! As Rafa keeps saying, stick to the facts Fergie - you're losing it !
Insua come through from the reserves playing top staff and established first team player. haven't seen anything like him come from United. those brazilian kids are not good enough for first team must be a problem over there with development.
