Man Utd boss Ferguson sees AC Milan defender Thiago Silva as Ferdinand successor

AC Milan defender Thiago Silva is in the sights of Manchester United.

The Telegraph says Rio Ferdinand's injury problems in recent seasons have become a genuine cause of concern for manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

The Scot has now posted scouts to keep tabs on Thiago Silva's progress at Milan.

The Brazil international insists he's happy at the San Siro, though the pull of United could unsettle the defender in the months leading up to the summer market.
