Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has revealed Manchester United counterpart Sir Alex Ferguson is a big fan of Luka Modric.

Redknapp said: "He could play for anyone. He's a fantastic footballer with a great brain.

"He's not what I expected when I came here. He's a little guy but he's very strong, takes tackles, gets into tackles, rides tackles.

"Alex thought Luka was fantastic. He took John O'Shea off and changed their system. Luka was causing them so many problems.

"He said what a good player Luka is but I said 'No, you don't want him Alex!'."
