Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed England international Ben Foster broke a finger in training last week.

Foster was expected to play some part in United's two games in Japan but was forced to pull out of the squad after suffering the injury on Thursday.

It is the latest in a catalogue of fitness woes for the 25-year-old, who missed almost all of last season following cruciate surgery.
