Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has hailed Wes Brown for the way he has covered in the absence of skipper Gary Neville.

The 28-year-old signed a four-year deal yesterday having played an integral role filling in at right-back for injured skipper Neville.

Boss Ferguson said: "Wes has done a great job during Gary's absence and has been a major factor in our outstanding defensive performance."
