Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson believes Bolton Wanderers had no choice but to sell Nicolas Anelka in January.
Anelka bagged the winner against United last November and had notched ten goals from his 18 league games before he moved on. Fergie said: "I think his goalscoring was a lot for a team at that level so you are going to miss that. Not easy.
"But the decision to sell was the fact that the offer from Chelsea was so good.
"And he's not the type to stay long at clubs anyway. It was expected he would leave."
