Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is delighted with the growing confidence Carlos Tevez is showing.

And after opening his account against Chelsea last Sunday, his boss believes he really is the mane man ready to turn nasty and tear into the rest of the Premier League.

Fergie said: "His confidence is going to be high after scoring his first goal for us.

"The rest of the players were so pleased for him as you saw from their reaction.

"He is as strong as a lion and hard as nails."

Tevez, 23, grabbed the opener to set up United's 2-0 win over the Blues at Old Trafford.

And Fergie added: "Even in training you can see his determination.

"He is a terrier who gets about the pitch really well.

"If ever he loses the ball he wants to win it back straight away.

"He is a really good quality front player."
