Manchester United's board is pleased with the team's progress under manager Jose Mourinho.
The Telegraph says should United continue on their current course and finish second in the league then it would be a marked improvement from their sixth-placed finish last term.
Because of this progress Mourinho continues to be the right man for the job.
However the board do have certain expectations for Mourinho next season - including mounting a serious title challenge and performing better in the Champions League.
United's chiefs are even willing to sacrifice an entertaining style of play if it means bringing in more silverware.
