Man Utd ace Fernandes rowed with father about Portugal stay

Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes almost snubbed playing for Portugal earlier in is career.

Fernandes' dad Jose wanted his family to leave Portugal but his son refused aged just 12.h

The playmaker wanted to stay in his homeland because he thought the standard of football was better there and he stood an improved chance of making it as a professional.

But his father, who also was a footballer, was keen for his family to emigrate to Switzerland, says Blick.

If the Portugal international did make the move he would have then been eligible to play for the Swiss national team
