Vincent Kompany has incurred the wrath of coach Dick Advocaat after being expelled from Belgium's squad ahead of their game with Qatar. The Manchester City midfielder was sent packing by strict disciplinarian Advocaat after two examples of poor time-keeping in the space of three days, reports the Daily Mail.
He was demoted to the bench against Hungary on Saturday, after arriving five minutes late for a team meeting earlier in the day, and given his marching orders on Tuesday morning after failing to meet a deadline for returning from his grandmother's funeral in Brussels on Monday.
Advocaat gave the 23-year old strict instructions about what time he had to be back at the team hotel, following his grandmother's funeral.
When the deadline passed without any sign of him, former Rangers boss Advocaat turfed him out of the squad, in a move that places a question mark over his international future.
