Man City youngster Denayer reflects on 'wonderful' Belgium debut

Jason Denayer was delighted with his first start in international football for Belgium on the weekend.

The Manchester City defender, who spent last season on loan with Celtic, was making just his second appearance for Marc Wilmots' Rode Duivels in their clash with France in Paris on Sunday.

Denayer, 19, played 85 minutes of his side's 4-3 victory and was over the moon after landing his full debut following his substitute appearance in Euro2016 qualifying against Israel in March.

"It was very exciting - I was directly in the game and I gave 100%," he said.

"I had to quickly win my challenges so the game could go better for us - I will remember this victory. It has been a wonderful experience for me.

"I have been told to play like I have with Celtic and with Celtic, I go forward so it's what I did when I could find spaces."
