England captain Steph Houghton has signed a new contract with Manchester City until the end of the 2017 season. The 27-year-old was named as England captain three months after her move, and will lead the team at next month's World Cup in Canada.
"I'm extremely delighted. It was always in my mind that I wanted to be here for longer. I feel so at home at Manchester City," Houghton told the club website.
"I knew I wanted to be part of the club's future over the next few years. I feel we're heading in the right direction.
"I love the city. I love my life here. It was a very easy decision."
