Man City veteran David Silva in talks with Inter Miami

Manchester City veteran David Silva is in talks with Inter Miami.

The Independent says Silva, who will leave the Etihad Stadium at the end of the season after a decade in Manchester, is being lined up by David Beckham in order to tap into and engage south Florida's large Hispanic community.

Beckham is desperate to get the local population on board as he looks to build the team from scratch, and hopes that a world-renowned Spanish-speaking star such as Silva would fit the bill.

Silva was part of the Spain squads that won the European Championships in 2008, the World Cup in 2010 and the European Championships again in 2012, while the former Valencia star is known around the world for his achievements in English football with City.

He will walk away from the Citizens when his contract expires in the summer, although should he move to Miami he would miss the first three months of the 2020 MLS season, which begins in March.
