Manchester City are making a late move to trump Aston Villa for Chelsea midfielder Steve Sidwell.

Villa are confident of landing Sidwell, 25, after Chelsea deemed him surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge following his free transfer from Reading last summer.

But new City boss Mark Hughes is also a big fan of the midfielder after trying to sign him for Blackburn Rovers, says the Mirror.
