Newcastle have already secured Sandro Tonali from AC Milan, but may want to pair him with the more attack-minded Barella.

Inter, who have recently sold goalkeeper Andre Onana to Manchester United, value Barellla at more than £50 million.

The midfielder is one who City boss Pep Guardiola may see as the ideal replacement for Ilkay Gundogan.
