Manchester City are ready to bid for West Ham United defender Matthew Upson.
The Telegraph says West Ham's £15m-rated Upson has given Manchester City further hope in their hunt for a central defender by rejecting contract extension talks at Upton Park.
City boss Mark Hughes is also interested in Portsmouth defender Sylvain Distin.
