Man City starlet Barker revels in England U19s brace

Brandon Barker was over the moon after scoring a double in the England U19 side's 8-0 thrashing of Luxembourg on Sunday.

Sean O'Driscoll's side confirmed their place in the next phase of Euro qualifying with the blitz which came courtesy of two goals each from Manchester City's Barker, Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Fulham's Patrick Roberts while Charlie Colkett and Bradley Fewster were also on target.

After the triumph, which also saw Barker play in a hand in Loftus-Cheek's opener, the City forward spoke with delight as he opened his goalscoring account for England.

"I was happy with today. I thought it was really good the way we went about the game. After being 5-0 up at half-time we could have just sat back in second half but we managed to get another three goals," he told the FA's official website.

"They were my first goals for England so I'm delighted. I was pleased to play a part in the first goal as well. It was a really good day overall."

He added: "It was a massive relief to get my goal because I thought it was never going to come. The free-kick was something I had been practising in training and I just kept missing. I thought it was about time one of them went in.

"I can't think of any better feeling than scoring for England. I'm buzzing."
