Man City skipper Kompany in doubt for at least a month

Vincent Kompany is in danger of missing most of the remainder of the season after re-injuring his calf.

The Manchester City captain limped out of his side's 0-0 draw with Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League Round of 16 second leg on Tuesday night and according to manager Manuel Pellegrini, will be sidelined for at least four weeks.

"Vincent unfortunately again has a muscle injury in his calf, the same problem as he had before," said Pellegrini.

"We will know maybe tomorrow or the day after how important it is, but always a muscle injury is a minimum of one month."

He added: "Having this problem in his calf and it being the middle of March, at least three-quarters of the rest of the season he will not play.

"I think he must be very strong with his mentality.

"It is very difficult to accept it, but there is nothing he can do. So we must see tomorrow with the examinations."

The problem will see City go through until at least mid-April without their influential skipper who will miss vital Premier League fixtures, including Sunday's Manchester derby, and is also a major doubt for the Champions League quarter-finals after City got past Dynamo 3-1 on aggregate.
