Man City skipper Kompany gives all clear for final Belgium qualifier

Manchester City and Belgium captain Vincent Kompany has signalled that he will be ready to play in his country's final Euro 2016 qualifier against Israel.

Kompany has missed the last five Premier League matches as well as Belgium's recent Euro qualifiers with a calf injury but has told coach Marc Wilmots he will be fit for Tuesday's home clash with the Israelis in Brussels.

The 30-year-old's return will come as mixed news for City manager Manuel Pellegrini who, having received the news of Sergio Aguero's injury this week, will be keen to avoid putting his key players in harms way.

However, Wilmots has announced that Kompany will play from the start on Tuesday night.

Wilmots said: "Kompany is ready to play so why wouldn't he start?

"I haven't had any talks with Manchester City but if a 30-year-old player says he's fit then he's fit. I think it will be good for City if Kompany gets some match time."
