Man City signing Navas fires Spain into Confederations Cup final

Jesus Navas was the hero for Spain as the World and European champions progressed to the final of the 2013 Confederations Cup.

The Manchester City new boy was cool and composed as he slotted home the winning penalty as La Roja beat Italy 7-6 in a penalty shootout after it finished 0-0 at the end of extra-time in Fortelza.

Both sides produced faultless penalties, giving goalkeepers Iker Casillas and Gianluigi Buffon little chance, before Leonardo Bonucci blazed over the crossbar.

Navas then took the onus and fired Spain into the final where they will take on hosts Brazil at the Maracana in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday following the third-place playoff between Uruguay and Italy in Bahia.
