Man City set to offer new deal to Denayer

Manchester City are looking to tie down defensive prospect Jason Denayer to a new long-term deal.

Many have been critical of City's youth system recently but they continue producing talented youngsters headed by talented centre-back Denayer.

Denayer created waves during his loan spell at Celtic last season and the Belgian has been touted as a long term successor to captain and fellow compatriot Vincent Kompany.

As a result, City are keen on securing the future of Denayer as his contract expires in 2016 and the defender's agent Jesse de Preter has confirmed that the club is working towards a new deal for his client.

De Preter said this week: "Last season, we thought it was very important for Jason to have experience in a first team. We organised a loan at Glasgow Celtic, and it was very successful because he started and worked very well.

"He was immediately at the level that was expected of him from the first day, and he kept it until the last - he was voted the best young player of the year in Scotland. Meanwhile, Manchester City have expressed a wish to extend the contract of Jason. The end of his current lease is June 30, 2016.

"The management of Manchester City said they see Jason as a potential first team player for next season. We are in the midst of negotiations for an extension."
