Man City's Toure not worried about criticism

Yaya Toure insists he will not listen to the critics as he looks to return to his very best form for Manchester City.

The imposing Ivory Coast midfielder has self-admittedly been below his lofty standards in the early stages of the 2014/15 season but hit back with a goal and a fine performance in Sunday's 3-0 win over Southampton.

Toure has been the subject of some negative press during the campaign thus far but intends to shake it off and focus solely on lifting reigning champions City back up to the top of the Premier League table.

"For me the most important thing is I try to do my best for the team," said Toure ahead of Wednesday night's trip to Sunderland.

"Sometimes people are not thinking we are human beings, people are always trying to criticise you even though you are a human being.

"So I never think about those things, I always try to focus on my team. The Premier League is important, and whenever we lose we will get criticised.

"But we've just got to fight until the end. Our squad is fantastic and we know exactly how to fight all the way in this league. Teams will always step up their game against us, and we know we've got to try to keep place with (league leaders) Chelsea."
