Belgium captain Vincent Kompany is of the belief that Scotland is capable of pulling off a minor miracle to qualify for the 2014 World Cup.
The Manchester City star scored in Belgium's 2-0 win over the Scots in Brussels last night which forced Craig Levein's side to the bottom of the Group A table after four matches.
With just two points from those outings, it appears very unlikely that Scotland can progress to Brazil 2014 but Kompany knows better than to write teams off at this early stage of the qualifying campaign.
"I wouldn't know my history too well if I thought Scotland were out of it," he said.
"We had six games to play and we were eight points down and we won the league last year.
"I just hope we are not going to make any mistakes and give them the chance to get back in it."
Kompany added: "We are absolutely thrilled with the result.
"I think we had a good day, we were also playing at home and they defended really well.
"If it wasn't for us being a bit more efficient in front of goal in the second half, it would have been a very tough game for us to win.
"So I wouldn't say Scotland did a lot wrong, it was just a very good game for us."
