Manchester City midfielder Nigel de Jong says the senior players are keeping Mario Balotelli on the straight and narrow.

De Jong and skipper Vincent Kompany have become Balotelli's official minders - and they are determined the hothead Italian explodes on the pitch rather than off it.

De Jong said: "We have a laugh with him. He's done well this season. We've taken him in and we unite as a team."
