Manchester City have opened talks with Schalke for Sebastian Rudy.

The Sun says City must cough up £35m for Schalke midfielder star Rudy.

City were keen to loan in the German, 28, as cover for Fernandinho, as City boss Pep Guardiola wants cover for midfielder Fernandinho — the only real gap in his squad.

Rudy was out of favour at Schalke but excelled on his return last week and the Bundesliga side will only let him go for a huge fee.
