Man City midfielder Phillips: I hope Leeds stay up

Manchester City star Kalvin Phillips admits he has still been watching his old team Leeds United.

Phillips, who is now a Premier League winner, has experienced a tough season on a personal level.

The defensive midfielder has been a peripheral player for the Citizens, even criticised by manager Pep Guardiola for being unfit at one stage of the season.

"I have been keeping an eye on Leeds all season, to be honest," Phillips told Sky Sports after City beat Chelsea 1-0 in the Premier League on Sunday.

"Obviously not a great result today but just pray to God they get a good result in the last game and hopefully keep that great club in the Premier League."

He then added on playing the game against the Blues: "It was a great feeling when I came in this morning and the manager told me I was playing.

"I was just happy to be honest. I was happy because we won the league the night before and I knew that there might be a chance I could play, so I just went on relaxed and enjoyed every moment."
