Manchester City won't be calling in David Villa on-loan in January.
Villa is registered to City's MLS sister club New York City FC, but unlike teammate Frank Lampard, won't be called up by the Premier League champs.
The Manchester Evening News says Villa is still only 33 and although he has never played in the Premier League he might have been a valuable alternative, given that City's four recognised strikers (that's including Alvaro Negredo) are unavailable.
But City are happy to let Villa launch New York's inaugural MLS season without complications.
