Goals from Lucas Thwala, a spot kick, and a fantastic long range strike by Phenyo Mongale proved decisive in the opening game of the Vodacom Challenge at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, South Africa.
It could have been worse for City as the Pirates hit a post late on.
