Man City give Eriksson only £10M for January market

Manchester City boss Sven Goran Eriksson has been told his winter market budget is limited to £10 million.

The Mirror says after splashing out close to £40m in the summer on eight players when he took over at Manchester City, owner Thaksin Shinawatra has told his manager he will provide money - but the former Thai Prime Minister has limited funds despite his party's victory in last month's elections in his homeland.

Eriksson said: "If you see all the players we have been linked with, we would be signing about 20 players. Some of the speculation might be true, but there's a lot of it and the reason is people think we have money.

"We're working on things and for sure, something will happen. We have signed Nery Castillo and we will be taking in at least one more player this month."
