Manchester City fullback Benjamin Mendy has suffered an injury setback with France.

Mendy has been ruled out of France's World Cup showdown with Argentina.

The Manchester City left-back, who missed the majority of the Blues' record-breaking season with a serious knee injury, is struggling with a muscle problem.

Mendy is understood to have sustained the injury when taking a shot in training on Wednesday.

France boss Didier Deschamps confirmed the 23-year-old's absence from Saturday's last-16 tie in a press conference on Friday.
