Manchester City fullback Yan Couto has lifted the lid on turning down Bayern Munich last summer.

Couto is currently on-loan in Spain with Segunda Division Girona, having joined last year from Coritiba.

"After the U17 World Cup, which we won with Brazil (at the end of 2019), some clubs were interested in me: Barcelona, FC Bayern, Manchester City," the 18-year-old told Goal.com.

“For me, Pep Guardiola is the best coach in the world and Manchester is one of the best clubs with a great future right now.

"That's why it was the best choice for me."
