Manchester City are pushing to close a deal for Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Alen Halilovic.

The Daily Mail says City are looking to beat Manchester United and Real Madrid to Dinamo Zagreb's record-breaking midfielder Halilovic.

A three-man delegation from City travelled to Croatia this week to negotiate with Zagreb over the 16-year-old who is already being touted as the next Luka Modric.

City want to head off competition and strike a deal now for around £6million but Zagreb believe they can make much more on Halilovic in the future and may only agree a transfer layered with future sell-on clauses.
