Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott says jeering Manchester United fans inspired their Sunday demolition.
It was an hour BEFORE Manchester City's 6-1 destruction of champions Manchester United at Old Trafford last Sunday that Lescott knew they would win.
The City defender told the Daily Star: "As we walked out on to the pitch for our warm-up, we were immediately greeted by boos from their crowd.
"And, believe it our not, that helped us because we could sense those fans knew it was going to be a tough game for their team.
"Immediately there was a real air of growing belief among the lads. It was a feeling that was a real confidence booster."
He added: "It all felt so different on Sunday. Going there last season, it was like we thought we could win but maybe get a draw.
"When we went out to warm-up before that game it was just a normal warm-up. This time it was so different.
"It was like their fans knew we are a force to be reckoned with this season and it gave us confidence and added to our belief that we can win every game.
"Old Trafford is never an easy place to go. I have been there in the past and it has been tough. But there was a real air of belief among the lads and their fans booing us probably calmed our nerves.
"The team believed those fans knew it was going to be a tough game for their team, whereas Manchester United feel they can dominate most teams - but it wasn't to be."
