Man City defender Finley Burns set for loan move

Manchester City defender Finley Burns is set to become the third young centre-half to go out on loan this season.

The 18-year-old, who made his senior debut in the 6-1 Carabao Cup win over Wycombe earlier this season, is about to join Swansea for the rest of the season.

His performance in that game saw him singled out for praise by Pep Guardiola, who likened the precision of his timing to a watch.

Burns was a key member of the under-23 side that won Premier League 2 last season and also featured Cole Palmer, Liam Delap and James McAtee.

Burns cost City £175,000 when they signed him from Southend as a 13-year-old five years ago, and he has since become a rock of the Blues junior sides - a move to a Championship club is the latest phase in his development, says the Manchester Evening News.

City also have 19-year-old Taylor Harwood-Bellis on loan at Stoke after spending the first half of the season at Anderlecht, and 18-year-old Callum Doyle at League One promotion chasers Sunderland.
