Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany is working on Benfica ace Axel Witsel about a move to England.

O Jogo says City boss Roberto Mancini is eyeing Witsel for next season, though must see off competition from Real Madrid and AC Milan to land the young Belgian.

Mancini is banking on the influence of Kompany to sway the race in their favour, with the City captain a good friend of his fellow Belgium international.

Benfica are now hoping to sell for Witsel's €40 million buyout clause.
