Manchester City sports chief Txiki Begiristain has rejected a return to Barcelona.

The Sunday Times says Begiristain was recently approached by Barca about returning to the club as sports director, but declined.

The position was vacated by Andoni Zubizarreta, after his dismissal earlier this year. However, it's since been filled by Ariedo Braida amid a management restructure which includes the forming of a technical committee.

Begiristain is under pressure at City over the club's transfer policy.

He spent seven years at the Nou Camp, between 2003 and 2010, having been brought to the club by former president Joan Laporta.
