Manchester City chief Txiki Begiristain was in Spain yesterday.
El Mundo Deportivo says Begiristain was in Madrid for talks with Real Madrid for Pepe.
City are accelerating negotiations with Real for the Portugal international, who is aware of their interest.
Begiristain is hoping to do business with Real for €23 million.
