Man City, Chelsea circle for Real Madrid boss Mourinho

Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho is being linked with Manchester City and Chelsea.

The People says several members of Real's hierarchy are furious over Mourinho's embarrassing behaviour during and after the Champions League semi-final defeat by Barcelona. And defeat tonight could be the excuse they're looking for to dismiss the Special One.

Mourinho's shadow would loom large over several Premier League managers, not least Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini.

The Italian has steered City to the FA Cup final and looks on course to lead them to a Champions League place.

But the prospect of hiring the former Chelsea manager will give City's owners real food for thought.

Ironically, Mourinho's old club Chelsea could also be on the lookout for a new manager this summer with Carlo Ancelotti likely to be sacked, and in turn a job at the Bernabeu might just appeal to Ancelotti.

Whether Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich would be willing to take Mourinho back after handing him an £18million pay-off in 2007, however, is unlikely.

Mourinho will return to the Premier League at some stage, although the job he really wants is at Manchester United.

Yet Sir Alex Ferguson is not planning to quit Old Trafford for at least another two seasons, which would leave Mourinho in limbo.
