Manchester City are battling Barcelona for Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels.
The Daily Express says City are trying to firm up their summer transfer strategy early so they can get ahead of their rivals when the window reopens.
But Barcelona also have designs on Hummels and they are keen to trump City.
