Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany is delighted for Thomas Vermaelen over his playing return for Barcelona.

Vermaelen proved the matchwinner last week against Malaga.

"Vermaelen has been criticised because of his injuries," Kompany said, "but now he is with us again and he is one of the best defenders in the world.

"I hope we can strike up an understanding once more."
