Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini refuses to give up on his bid for Real Madrid defender Pepe.

The Daily Express says Spanish sources report Pellegrini considers Pepe's signing to be an absolute priority and has pleaded with the club to make a concerted effort to bring the Portuguese international on board.

City enquired about Pepe earlier in the summer and were told then that the player was not for sale but there is little doubt that Manchester City have the financial clout to make a bid that would cause the Madrid club to reconsider their position.
