Manchester City are closing in on Derby County midfielder Will Hughes.
The Daily Mail says Roberto Mancini sent his No 2 David Platt to make a personal check on 17-year-old Hughes in Saturday's game at Brighton.
Tottenham and Arsenal are also keen but City are hopeful of agreeing a deal before the transfer window closes.
