Man City boss Guardiola explains Mbappe stand; Cancelo Barcelona controversy

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has ruled out moving for PSG star Kylian Mbappe.

Guardiola, competing in a Legends of Golf tournament in Girona, was asked about the Frenchman.

"We are not in the race for Mbappé. You all know where you want to go," the Catalan smiled, referring to Real Madrid.

Guardiola also commented on Joao Cancelo's failed move to Barcelona. It was claimed by Barca coach Xavi that City blocked them from signing Cancelo in January ahead of his loan move to Bayern Munich.

But City's manager said: "I think they have informed him very badly. It is far from reality. The reality was that we decided that he had to leave and we didn't care where he was going, as if he wanted to go to United, which is our rival.

"There is his agent and the clubs they agree. I won't say that they deceived him but that they misinformed him."

The decision, he added, "was made by the footballer and Bayern and if Bayern don't want him, then he won't go there".

Guardiola also has insisted that no one from City prevented his landing in Barcelona.

"Nothing in this".

So why didn't he end up at Barça?

"I have no idea. We didn't get any offers."
