Manchester City stars Erling Haaland and Kevin de Bruyne were not needed in midweek.
The club's star attacking duo were given a rest by manager Pep Guardiola.
Both were named on the bench for the game against Aston Villa, but were not needed.
Speaking before the 4-1 win on Wednesday, Guardiola told TNT Sports: “In two-and-a-half days we have another game at 12:30 [Crystal Palace away].
“I think all the teams at the top have a big squad, a good squad, and of course we have it.
“Today we decided for this line-up for this tough opening and [we will] go for it."
