Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has hailed the impact of defender Manuel Akanji this week.
The Swiss international arrived last summer from Borussia Dortmund as a backup option at first.
However, the 28-year-old quickly became a mainstay, as he can fill in at either full back position and shines in his favoured centre back role.
“Really good, what a signing. We are so lucky to have him," Guardiola told reporters, as they get ready to play Swiss side Young Boys away from home in the Champions League.
“We had a feeling we needed a central defender, so we moved quickly when we had the chance to get him.
“He is a lovely guy, can play in different positions. Normally a central defender but (he can play) right back, holding midfield.
“He is open minded, well educated, so intelligent. It's a joy to work with Manu every single day."
