Man City boss Guardiola delighted with Alvarez signing and Cancelo deal

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has welcomed new signing Jorge Alvarez.

The Argentina striker was signed this week and loaned back to River Plate.

Guardiola said, "Well congratulations for Manchester City, they worked to be in the present but also the future. He's a player that could be with us but right now enough players in that position, don't like to have too many. So it's best for him to stay at River, where he has done so well in the last years with [Marcelo] Gallardo.

"They are his mates and next pre season he will be with us. Then we'll decide. The squads move but we are really pleased to have this talented player for the next years."

On Joao Cancelo's new deal, the manager continued: "Everyone knows how important he is and what he's done. We struggled when he arrived, we did not agree on many things, partly cos o my mistakes but now delighted he's fully happy and can play here for the next seasons. He can play in many positions, can play every day, physicality, he's so funny and loved in the locker room."
