Man City boss Eriksson admits January spending plans

Sven-Goran Eriksson has admitted Manchester City have money to spend in January - but refused to reveal whether Afonso Alves will be arriving.

The former England boss is understood to be looking to strengthen his attacking options, with Valeri Bojinov injured and none of Georgios Samaras, Rolando Bianchi, Darius Vassell or Emile Mpenza scoring regularly.

However, Eriksson, who is reported to have opened talks with Heerenveen frontman Alves, insists he is keeping an open mind on the situation.

He said: "We have some good strikers and it would be wrong of me now to say what we need in January. We have money available if we want to do something."
