River Plate goalkeeper Augusto Batalla is on the radar of Manchester City.

The 18 year-old is rated among the very best young keepers in South America, but is yet to make his first team debut.

City chiefs Txiki Begiristain and Ferran Soriano know all about Batalla and are keen to bring the teen to England in the summer.

However, the former Barcelona powerbrokers face a major stumbling block, with Real Madrid also in negotiations.

Indeed, Real, like City, are hopeful of adding Batalla to their Castilla squad for next season.

River president Rodolfo D'Onofrio said last month: "Real Madrid want him. We will have to see if River can hold on to him."
