Manchester City have made a move for Athletic Bilbao midfielder Javi Martinez.

The Manchester Evening News says City are reported to have made an enquiry about the availability of Martinez.

A sticking point could be the fee as the Spanish international has a price tag of £34million, which the Blues would not be prepared to pay.

Martinez has been linked with moves to United and Liverpool and appeared in Spain victorious World Cup campaign last year.
