Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has heaped praise on Leicester City defender Caglar Soyuncu.

Indeed, Gundogan has hinted City should solve their defensive dilemma by bringing in Soyuncu.

The Turkey defender, 24, has been in fine form this season, attracting reported interest from City and Barcelona, with the Foxes warning off potential suitors insisting he is not for sale.

But as Pep Guardiola searches for a centre-back, Gundogan says he would love to see Soyuncu at the Etihad in the near future.

“I agree with the general opinion of football fans. Caglar Soyuncu had the best performance in the Premier League this season after Van Dijk," the German told Fanatik.

“He's a very good boy. I love him. His understanding of football and character are also very good. His performances for both Leicester and Turkey are good. I hope we see him in better places.

“The first one that comes to my mind about the Turkish player I want to see at Manchester City is Caglar."
